Wasn't that just splendid. I think yer man Capaldi is spot on for the role and am now really looking forward to how and where he takes the character.
As for missy... River Song incognito, anyone???

The identity crisis stuff was good. But... maybe the whole forth wall breaking thing about fangirls was a little too obvious. Some nice throw backs, though. It was a needed episode. Also... Either we've been here before/Master's Tardis, or it's non-obvious makeup-poor-location-reuse.

I think that's the master anyway, so that would make sense.

I wasn't sure at first but it grew on me. I suspect the BBC were a bit worried as this incarnation could make or break the series after the force of nature that was Matt Smith so featuring everyone's favourite comedy/action trio Vastra, Jennny and Strax as well as having Matt himself in a cameo could be seen as a way of trying to keep the viewers on board for what is a pretty radical change. Wondering if the later timeslot is a hint that this series may have more of an edge but guessing that it's just because they have yet another variant, how many more of these can they come up with?, on the celebrities, and I use the word loosely, learning some totally pointless skill and making a prat of themselves on before it.

Oooh... good call. Watched it again and enjoyed even more the 2nd time around. Loved the reference to the excellent Girl in the Fireplace ep (one of my faves). Some of the 'humour' with Strax seemed a tad forced and I'm sure the Daily HEIL! faction will (no doubt) be frothing over the frequently stated and displayed 'gay agenda' of Vastra and Jenny right in their faces... The only thing that really grated was the nonsense phone call with Smithy, but I guess that was only put in to assuage dumb-ass Yanks who otherwise wouldn't have coped with *gasp* an older chap playing the Doc.

I'm not a massive Whovian anyway but I enjoyed it. An ex-friend always said it might be so that capaldi is "my" Doctor. I have to say I loved Matt's cameo though, it made me smile and my eyes well up

So the feeling seems to be that its a female Master and Paradise is her Tardis. My Uncle pretty much thought so from the begging too: "Missy at the end - that was the Master, right? Missy - short for Mistress, and the entire garden thing was in fact the inside of a TARDIS - even had a fountain in the place of a central console" If any of this turns out to be true its one of the worst kept secrets for a big reveal near the end of the season. Now thinking about it if this is the Female Master and he....she called the Doctor her boyfriend which lets face it Steven Moffat has paired them up before somewhat in the past.

Or its finally the Rani as so many fans have wanted for years I did like the whole comment about missy and the doctor being lovers though as that adds abit more to the mystery(my friend thinks its romana turned bad post time war)which should keep people guessing unless they balls it up early on(hopefully moffat doesnt write all the scenes involving that character or it may well get messed up).

Another episode down, i really like the new doctor(the deadpan expressions and the one liners alongside the almost detached emotionless persona is something only capaldi could do).
Is it just me or does anyone else see death flags around that ptsd ex soldier teacher? maybe he'll only be around for this one episode but if not i see nothing good coming from his being introduced in a dalek episode.
Next weeks episode already look like it's gonna be abit poor unless what they previewed isnt the meat of the episode.

Cant say I loved last weeks episode I found it a little lacking in something. Also found Peter Capaldi's first episode a little bland for the start of a New Doctor. That said I do like Peter Capaldi as this new Doctor and clearly the perfect choice for what I assume will be a darker Doctor as promised by The Great Intelligence. I just wish that Peter Capaldi's outfit had a bit more flair maybe something like that thing Miles Edgeworth wares. So liked that innocent Clara thought Dalek's could turn good but sadly there was only ever one good Dalek and that was her: Or...another version of her whatever point is there will only be one good Dalek. Now this Missy character is interesting to say the least; if nothing else I'll continue to watch this season just to see where this storyline leads. I also do want to see where this Danny Pink character gos too so lets hope it doesn't disappoint.

Dark doctor is awesome.
Also... Blue soldier and Pink soldier? We going to get various colour references of people in the military?
