Edgar Wright only said it as a joke when people spotted they were in both films and they had different flavours and he compared it to Krzysztof Kieslowski's The Three Colours Trilogy which he likes as he name dropped it at the May MCM Expo. It's a dark film though, like when the people are replaced, they're mulched and used as fertilizer while a blank with their DNA walks around as them. Shame they missed out on the obvious Invasion of the Body Snatchers (70's one) reference with Donald Sutherland (the final part of that film).

Now You See Me
I'm automatically biased with this one because I love a good chase movie, the cast is sublime and I'm a sucker for magic. I thoroughly enjoyed it, didn't expect the plot twist at the end to be EXACTLY how it was. It was good - I'd watch it again. 8/10

Despicable Me 2Minions. 'nuff said. Was crying with laughter pretty much throughout. Will need to rewatch a few times to catch all the side action. 9/10. Shame they missed out on the obvious Invasion of the Body Snatchers (70's one) reference with Donald Sutherland (the final part of that film). There's definitely one in DM2

If you want a good war you really need to the Germans as they produce some of the best films, no glory hunting no over the top patriotism just you're here and welcome to hell. For two examples see Das Boot and Stalingrad. Noodle. Das Boot is still the best war movie (esp. the 5-hour version) with the excellent Downfall a close second. Stalingrad was spoilt for me by a lousy dub and for generally poor acting. A better Eastern Front movie is the Russian 'Come and See' which is as grimly brutal and harrowing as Stalingrad, so is quite difficult to watch at times.

War Horse - Speilberg's WW1 movie. Certainly tugs on the heartstrings and the action scenes come across as very authentic (the trenches, no mans land, going over the top) but I found some of it overly sentimental and certain scenes just didn't ring wholly true for me.
That said, as a WW1 re-enactor, it was worth watching for references on kit, etc.
7/10

The World's End
Agreeing with the other comments here - it was very reminiscent of IoBS, but that wasn't a bad thing. Loved it. 8/10

Splice - Canadian sci-fi/horror effort from 2009 about a couple of young scientists doing silly things with DNA and splicing... with predictable results. Entertaining, but nothing really new, different or shocking.
6/10

Finally saw Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World.
Inventive, and I'm sure that it's the best example of how to bring a comic book to a watchable medium - there was something about the framing, goofiness and quick editing that made it feel like an animated comic. In the best way possible.
Never aloof to all storytelling clichés, and always understanding that it wasn't trying to be an Oscar masterpiece, it's respectable as it was entertaining.
Matthew Patel was the best fight, though, reminding me of Gitaroo Man's Tainted Lovers stage.
8/10.

Watched Adulthood, the sequel to Kidulthood. While I don't normally go in for mockney gansta films I actually thought that this wasn't too bad. Noodle.

Diary of the Dead,,
Well, I hured this film wasn't good,, but oh how I wasn't expecting it to be THAT bad lol.
For a J.A.R film im dissapointed,, story wasn't bad but it was executed poorly.
4/10 simply due to it being soo bad, it was (unintentionally) funny.

Red2 has been and gone at Vue Reading... a 1 week run. Bah...
Will have head to the out of town complex at Winnersh to see it. :/
Looking at forthcoming stuff... Rush looks promising. A biopic of the famous Hunt/Lauda F1 rivalry in the 1970s. Chris Hemsworth looking v.good as Hunt the Shunt.
