Related products (manga, figures, soundtracks, *cough*VISUAL NOVELS*cough*, posters, artbooks...) are included. I think the US$80 (£55) I dropped on the Time of Eve Kickstarter tops my list, with a couple of anime series coming in at around the £40 mark. Even with long OOP stuff (like my Zipang DVD collection), I tend to scour the likes of Amazon, fleabay, etc for the cheapest. And yes, this thread was sponsored by the NeoZeta Facebook page

Excluding series from the olden days when we had to pay £14.99 per disk for 3-4 episodes so circa £100 for a 7 disk series then probably the 4 Haruhi season 1 special editions which added up to £110. Other than that then probably - Animation Soundtrack (Music by Yoko Kanno) / Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex CD Box [Limited Release] CDA 14000yen imported from Japan. This is all the SAC OST CDs now O.O.P Link

Overall in one buying session or single item? I was thinking single item (or grouped items bought together as a package). But per session or even an entire collection might be interesting too. I shudder to think how much I've spent on manga (700 vols and counting) over the 10 years I've been collecting. (An average of £7 per volume takes it close to £5k...) Mind you, I'm looking at my storage crates containing something like £30k-worth of toytrains...

For me my most expensive figure is my Dramatical Murder Aoba but that will be overtaken in may when i get the Dramatical Murder Ren Rhyme Version Limited Edition figure.
As for anime, the most expensive series (so far) as got to be Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, which will be followed by Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) 2199 when i've finished collecting it. As for most expensive single anime purchase...thats probably Gurren Lagann Ultimate Edtion from AL.
As for manga...i have more than Duo's 700 volumes so also shudder to think how much that all comes to. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is the most i spend on a single manga volume.

Single title probably around £45 a few years ago for a R1 boxset of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
In one hit, probably last year when I ordered around £600 worth of anime from CEX & Amazon

Anime film: Genius Party/Genius Party Beyond DVD set from Australia for £50 - totally worth it, four discs including bonus shorts and juicy booklet, now if only other companies would follow how Siren did that boxset. TV Series: One of the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman Limited edition DVD box sets for £50 - this was then they were vanishing after going OOP at it was number seven or eight out of nine sets so would have looked awkward without it. Manga: Ode to Kirihito for £20 - Not a big Manga reader and never gone over that and I've managed to pick up some great hardback manga editions like Message to Adolf and Uzumaki for under this*. Merch: A Lupin the Third Animation cel from series 2 from the 70's for £55 - not bad considering it'll be the only one ever produced and that it was used as part of an Anime. All of these are for single items, not for individual releases making up a series or set else that would really increase the prices. I dare not think of how much I have spent else I have a heart attack but it's got to be an easy £5k. Now to wait for some of them to go OOP, mwuhahaha! *Yorkshire cheapskate, I just like getting the most for my money, what's wrong with that?

Back in ~1999 I seem to remember it was cost ~£20 for a 3 episode video (2 episodes in the final tape) with 9 videos in a set ... was getting both Tenchi Muya and Martian Successor Nadesico at the same time.

Merch-wise: My Evangelion Angel:XX Limited Edition CODE:BE near mint in box cost me £90
And I bought my Gundam Unicorn jacket and phone charms from Froovie for the low low price of about £140 including shipping.
Anime; £20 per DVD in the Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Collection. I dread to think how much that works out at. HMV really knew how to bleed you for every penny back then!
More recently, £89 for the Gurren Lagann Ultimate Blu Ray box set.
Oh, and the Japanese cinematic blu Ray release of all 7 episodes of Gundam Unicorn, with the limited edition sleeves and film cells etc, which cost between £70-~£100 each depending which episode it was

duoinchains is this thread trying to point the finger at me spending $1000 on clannad? Now, you might very well think that, but of course I couldn't possibly comment.

I'll never admit to spending £49.99 on a R4 set of Karin just because I thought the dub actress sounded cute. You're Jedi mind tricks won't work on me!, only money!.

I never get stuff when first out unless I really want it, but so far has been cheap on bluray (Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the shell etc) (I really want the Devilman OVAs on bluray and the first 2 Patlabor flms)
On anime it'll be something like the 1st and 2ng gig box sets of GITS: SAC as I got them both at the same time from amazon years ago for about £90. The 3 dvd box sets for the Patlabor series were about £35 each too.
I was VERY tempted to get the fancy Patlabor movie 1 region 2 dvd that came out. But I held off as I didn't fancy the $250 price tag. Last year I managed to pick it up in perfect condition used from amazon for £35, worth the wait.
If it was bulk buys I've spent $500 a few times importing dvds from America.
I've been collecting anime for 19 nearly 20 years now. I've spent close to £8000 over the years. Explains where all my free cash went. Bit of a shock that when a friend saw my dvds once I moved and could have them all in a bookcase, well 3 and asked how much I've spent.
That's where new fans today have it sooo good. Stream or downloading stuff is SOOO much easier and costs sooo much less. You still cant beat holding something in your hands though.
And I have about 15 Patlabor model kits that were about £35-£50 so that adds up too. Yes I am a bit of a Patlabor fanboy.
Plus add on top of that I went on the manga tour back on '06 which cost about £3000 after spending money was added.
