I listen to a pretty wide variety of music, though even within fave genres there's songs or bands I like and songs or bands I don't. Over the years I've been into glam, new-romantic, prog, goth, rock, metal, folk, indie, classical, jazz and pop. About the only genre I've never really enjoyed is RnB.

Mostly this, if I like it, I'll listen to it. It's probably easier to list what I don't like to be honest: Most Metal, Boy/Girl Band Pop, modern RnB (aka. The Bastard grandchild of original RnB (Rhythm and Blues) and Hip-Hop).

My tastes are very eclectic, and my Japanese tastes are the same covering Rock/Punk acts like Anna Tsuchiya, a liking for early Scandal (before they became too poppy), to Sonodaband and my old fall back fave, Pizzicato Five.

One thing you find as you get older is that you start to like a wider range of music. Partly because you're exposed to more but also because you get to the point where you don't care what other people think.
While my historic tastes were 80s indie The Cocteau Twins, Throwing Muses The Pixies and folk/rock The Pogues, The Levellers, The Men They Couldn't Hang; these days I'll listen to anything from ABBA to Blink 182 to Within Temptation to Tatu. Whatever takes my mood.
My phone is full of anime themes and soundtracks.
For those of you who don't know The Cocteau Twins, I suspect most, they basically did their own thing during the 80s and 90s ignoring any of the trends of the time.
Elizabeth Frazer is perhaps best known for the vocals on this with Massive Attack:
And this is one of the most immotive and beautiful songs she did:

(Who I'm going to see for the 120th time a week tomorrow) ^_^ And this is one of the most immotive and beautiful songs she did: [/quote] mmmmmCocteaus. Always a cut above your standard indie fare. MMMMMMMMThis Mortal Coil. The other half got me into them and I remember we found all their CDs in a record shop in Paris about 20 years ago, so bought the lot to replace all the worn vinyl albums.
