Got the Amazing Spiderman for PS3 today. I've been after this one for a while, just couldn't get the right price.
I also nabbed a cheap copy of Iron Man 2 on PS3, still waiting on that arriving though. THOR & Captain America are next, the latter being one that I might just trade for.

Thanks anyway, Shadowcat. Free copy? Do you, like, get free copies for your loyalty to the visual novel community, or something?

Went into CEX today and picked up When the wind blows, See no evil,Hear no evil and Candyman. Never seen When the wind blows before but I've seen comments and a few clips and it's supposed to be one of the most disturbing cartoons ever made. Looking forward to it.

Wouldn't say it's a disturbing cartoon but it's very grim and depressing, also doesn't help watching other Raymond Brigg's more family friendly adaptations like the Snowman and Father Christmas to then stumble on this. It might be an idea to watch this video before you watch the film: It's what was going to be broadcast if the threat of Nuclear War was imminent (but was leaked to the press) and explains some of the character's actions in the film. Warning, those films in the video are disturbing as it shows we would have been screwed to say the least.

Disturbing in terms of subject matter (nuclear war, which was still a real threat when it was made), though not necessarily in terms of content - there's a bit of... unpleasantness, but nothing gory. It's kinda the western equivalent of Grave of the Fireflies/Barefoot Gen. All are depressing, upsetting and not enjoyable to watch with no happy endings, but everyone should watch them all at least once. If you want to see a live-action nuclear war film, The BBC's ' Threads' from 1984 has yet to be bettered. It's still the scariest thing I've ever seen, though as a child of the Cold War, as I said, it seemed a real possibility for most of my childhood. (Threads is up on youtube, easy to find)

I can also recommend the Soviet film, Dead Man's Shoes (also online with subs) which is interesting as it's the only serious example of a nuclear war film I can find from the other side of the Iron Curtain (there were some like the Polish comedy Sexmission but nothing serious).

(Threads is up on youtube, easy to find) Threads has been on my watch list for a while but I've always put it off for some reason. Didn't it feature on the cover of the Radio Times with an image of a bloodied police officer standing in a zombie like state?. There was 3 part documentory about the cold war a while back and in it the presenter said that and old person asked for suicide capsules after having watched it so they could be spared the horror if they survived after having watched it. I wish I knew how to insert videos to posts as I think the bit in the Young Ones with Neil and the Protect and Survive maunual would be very apt . Noodle. It's a good job the defence plan was called MAD.

Got some Doctor Who audiobooks, the Dalek Wars Trilogy and the Lost stories from Humble Bundle for £10. Dead Man's Letters/Letters from a DeadMan, rather?? Soviet-era, nuclear war, fits the bill. I shall investigate. (Dead Man's Shoes is a 2004 Yankee movie) I don't know why I put shoes. Yes, Dead Man's Letters. When I watched it it was really poor quality but that added to the charm of it, like watching horror movies on 3rd or 4th generation copy VHS. The Ugly Swans by the same director is also good and somehow even more depressing, not nuclear themed though, think Stalker combined with Children of the Damned.
