I continued with The Last of Us, and... I still really don't feel it. People saying it's some kind of narrative masterpiece for a game, and I strongly disagree... Everything is so badly signposted, and the 'characterisation' amounts to nothing more than infodumps and forced reminiscing sections. There was also... {BIG PLOT SPOILER} the section where Joel gets injured and you change playable character to Ellie. Thing is... that was becoming so overwhelmingly obvious that the game was going to throw that switch at you that I was becoming a bit agitated with it not happening when I thought it would. The co-dependency plot-thread was faaaaaaaaaaaaar too obvious, being used up to that point that when it happened I was just shaking my head in disappointment. Throw in some silly bugs and glitches - 'The enemies are all gone, now open the door... open the door, sir... the door, open it... IT'S RIGHT THERE, IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GO... OPEN THE DOOR! OPEN IT NOW! OH FFS, EAT CLOSE RANGE SHOTGUN BULLET, CHUMP.' Reload. Defeat enemies. Open door. Shame we had to wait for our next lives for you to understand the principle of door openage to progress to other areas, sir. EDIT: And finished. I'm just shaking my head here, I figured out exactly what was going to happen at the end halfway through the game, and am finding it hard to understand the narrative stance the main characters take by them too not knowing exactly what the resolution was ultimately going to be and yet still ignoring the fact. I'm so confused as to how this managed to get such high scores. That and the final section brilliantly has a section where I slid across a table and landed right next to a guy who was ducked behind a table, who then ignored me for a whole minute, where I just walked up to him, strangled him and then did the same to the other guy CROUCHING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM AND NOT CARING A TUPPENCE. Either this or that fungal infection thing affects those not infected too, or there was some preposterous A.I, bugs and glitches here. 5/10. Was a 6 out of 10, but those glitches were foul.

Currently in the middle (or I sadly think am nearing the end of) Gone Home. It's things like this that make you go as a PC owner. Not quite a game, and not quite a visual novel (as in not at all, really). Kaitlin arrives home after a year travelling in Europe, except it's not HER home as her family moved while she was gone. When she arrives in the dead of night she finds the house deserted with a note telling her not to come looking for her sister. Of course not searching means you'll just stand on the porch and do bugger all. So we head in. Viewed from Kaitlin's eyes we then... search the house. The less you know of this the better. It's an immersive experience with some brilliant little touches in the detail. Also if you're a child of the 90s like I was some of the things you find/see will make you smile. EDIT: Less spoilery video It IS expensive, but take your time to look in every nook and cranny and that absorption is second to none. EDIT 2: And finished. Liked it. If you have any desire to get this DO NOT read any reviews as they (apparently) spoiler many things. Can't really say much more. I guess it's an ?/10. The most important part of storytelling is to show, not tell, and this is a perfect example of the ideal. Not really a game as such, and some people on Gamefaqs just did not 'get it' at all.

FF XIV: ARR Tales of Xillia
Finisihed GTA V after a couple of days last week, what a let down that was. I may go back at some point and do 100%, but probably not.

Spent a loooooooooooooooooooooong time shard/chunk grinding in Demon's Souls on Sunday... NOTE:- A. VERY. LONG. TIME. I'm someone who has no interest in that there trophy/achievements world, but the Souls series feels like the biggest FU to it when that there platinum trophy appears. Gotta say though that playing Dark Souls beforehand helped in my skill with this since I beat many of the bosses on my first go Also started playing The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD today. Been ten years since I played it and I swear the whole Tingle in jail section has been simplified! People lay legend of the graphics of this game, but they never really talk about the soundtrack which is easily one of the best in the series. Dat Dragon Roost Island theme

Platinumed Demon's Souls. *Drops* That'll teach those damn rolling skeletons An easier game than Dark Souls, and not as refined. Going back to the Nexus all the time became a chore, not least because of the loading times. Also the bosses... some on the internet say they were harder... WHAT!?! I mean... EH? NANI? About 10 of them went down without much effort on my first attempt - and then many others falling on my second (not getting trapped on the area's side helped considerably). Compare that to the 50+ attempts on Dark Souls bosses and I remain confused at the statement. There's also superficial difficulty here, in that many bosses could wipe you out with one hit. I've never considered such things as particular fair or a measure of difficulty - just irritating and poor design and a weak disguise to try to add challenge to something which is not designed in a challenging way, if you get what I mean. Still, it was one of them free PS+ titles, so no real complaints, and the rough edges were smoothed out considerably for its sequel... which I hate... but love... but hate... but REALLY hate... but REALLY love. Stupid Dark Souls. Hatsune miku: Project Eroge. I mean Project Diva F You can see how unique Sega are with this... it has anti-pantsu technology. Some may know what I mean
