Yes.
Lots of food only have dates to abide by the law. You do have to use common sense though - canned food, preserved food, oils, pickles, hot sauces, etc should last a long time. Plastic wrapped less so as the plastic starts to add flavour over time. Fresh food - depends on what it is.
