HS2 to could cost £80 Billion Its not the cost to make that worrys me,, its the cost to ride,,, Seriously I would rather spend £20 on a 4 hours journey,, rather than £60 on a 2hr journey of the same distance (Costs are estimates)

HS2 to could cost £80 Billion £20 Billion for the actual work and £60 Billion for the various benefits that will be paid to directors. Noodle.

And bring in American-style double-decker trains for the heavy used routes if the routes can take it, could be an idea [due to short platforms the doors on the front 9 coaches will only open] We should be able to with HS2 (and HS1) as it's one of the European loading gauges I believe, I know the TGV use double deckers for High Speed lines and theoretically* you'd be able to go from one of the HS2 stations to anywhere on the European High Speed Network without having to swap train. *I say theoretically because unless passport control is installed at those stations or we ditch the Common Travel Area and join the Schengen Area (ha!), it won't happen, would be nice though.

The new iPhone will be available in gold...
Yet the sheep will still pay £600 for it.

Yup, yup... HS1 is to the European 'Berne' loading gauge, as evidenced by the test run of a German ICE train into St Pancras Intl recently. So running 'doppelstock' through the tunnel is feasible. And if the HS2 mob have any sense, they'll build it to the Berne LG. Though that might restrict 'off-HS2' routes to UK standard stock (ie train which use HS2 for part of their journey only). But the UK's idiotic insistence on strong border control means it'll be a farce, as per usual...

There is going to be a connection between HS1 and HS2 I believe, it'd be pants-on-head Retarded if they built these shiny news lines and not build a couple hundred feet of connecting line.

I wonder if it will be mentioned on the Last Leg tonight (Great comedian, he purchased pizza for the audience when I saw him a few years ago)

No mention of it last night. I went to the recording of the first episode of the current series a few weeks back ... Some of the things Russell Brand did between the breaks...and during the recording of the ads for the show...oh god -_- Also looks like Rolf Harris has now been charged by the police: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23880768
