I've noticed there isn't a Real World News thread to discuss real world news so I figured why not create one. Sometimes we all just want to discuss world news events but there isn't a need to create there own threads for it so why not discuss it here. First one I'm putting up probably isnt quite breaking news but still pretty sad is that Cory Monteith from Glee has died aged just 31. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23304609It's a real shame to hear that he died, only a couple of years older then myself and I'm only 25. The problem is some of these actors or even just celebrities get hooked on drugs at young age and never kick the habit.

Aha! This is a good idea! Every Friday in my form we have a "Media Morning" Where each of us has to come up with a story that has been in the news. I'm normally pretty much useless in it. But with this thread I should be okay now! Yay no more detentions for that!

But with this thread I should be okay now! Yay no more detentions for that! Ha you should get the news where I get mine from "Mock the Week" reruns XD Its scary because he's the same age as me. Yeah he's roughly the same age as my older sister. Really sad that something like that can happen pretty quickly like that. Granted there are younger people who seem to die way to soon but still. He was my favorite character in Glee Anyway it looks like Nelson Mandela might be getting out of hospital soon: economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/nelson-mandela-could-soon-be-discharged-thabo-mbeki/articleshow/21071464.cmsKind of a miracle as last I heard was that Doctor's were planing to turn off his machine.

I hope Jacob Zuma doesn't pose for picture with him like he did last time...that felt awkward and horrible watching it on the news.

JK Rowling, her 'new' book sold 'well' in hard-back, getting ready to be released as paperback so to get some extra sales she comes out and says it's me. Cue a big-seller I dont know she might be one of those people who are suit to a certain type of story. In her case magic ^_^ I still havent read the last book she wrote under her real name but then I havent heard any reasons from people who have to read it. A bunch of friends sold me to the idea of Harry Potter around the time the 4th book came out and I read those and really enjoyed them but with "The Casual Vacancy" all i heard was "meh" and "It's ok I guess". Still if this new book "The Cuckoo's Calling" gets enough recomendations I might give it a try and then hopefully I like it In other news a bunch of people have been arrested after the riots in Belfast: uk.news.yahoo.com/clashes-second-night-rioting-belfast-214830659.html#LSygRaZMight need someone to help explain to me what these riots are for, I've read the explanation but I need someone to dumb it right down for me: "Trouble flared in the north of the city on Friday as the Orange Order protested against the decision to ban a contentious July 12 parade from a north Belfast flashpoint."...what?

The Casual Vacancy topped a list of most "unfinished" books.
Writing under another person's name is a good way to escape the pressures.
Although the paperback doesn't come out until Feb next year, so I think I will wait til it comes out and drops in price.

You know I always thought the book "Enchanted Glass" by Diana Wynne Jones needed another book. Always thought it was going to get a sequal but is she was planning to make one she obliviously ran out of time to start it. She died two years ago on March 26th 2011 from Lung Cancer. It always bothered me back then that none of the news sites seemed to even cover it even a little. The only reason I found out back then was because of a google news alert I had on her back then. Was a real shame and if you haven't heard of her then you might like to know she wrote the Original "Howl's Moving Castle" that Studio Ghibli movie is based on. Granted I didn't even know that until after I first watched the film. I looked it up and the first result was about the book which is how I learned it was based off it so I bought a copy on Amazon. Now I should say I love the Ghibli film and I think its more or less my third favorite film that Studio Ghibli has done and I'd still swear that the book is so much better ^_^ My favorite book by Diana Wynne Jones is Charmed Life, its one of those books I wish I had read as a child because it would of been my favorite book as kid now doubt. Saddly I was either 19 or 20 when I read it but still it was a good book even now at 25 I'd still thumb through it and the rest of the series it belongs to. In case you were wondering its called the Chrestomanci series. *cough* Anyway this is a news thread so back on topic of news - www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23286266In the future people will look back at this story as where the war with the Machines started! , or as Frankie Boyle once said that machines call it the great www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23286266

I'm not so sure - the report I heard earlier today sounded like he was still in a coma Dont know seems to be changing depending on the news site you visit at the moment. Some say discharging soon and others say he is critical but stable. But at least none say dead at the moment so thats something these sites seem to agree with.

In other news a bunch of people have been arrested after the riots in Belfast: uk.news.yahoo.com/clashes-second-night-rioting-belfast-214830659.html#LSygRaZMight need someone to help explain to me what these riots are for, I've read the explanation but I need someone to dumb it right down for me: "Trouble flared in the north of the city on Friday as the Orange Order protested against the decision to ban a contentious July 12 parade from a north Belfast flashpoint."...what? Basically... a little over 500 years ago, Ireland was invaded by the Tudor monarchy, who took land away from native Irish and transplanted a bunch of English and Scottish settlers in their place, particularly in the northern counties of Ireland. The native Irish were understandably somewhat miffed about this and various conflicts occurred, notably Cromwell's New Model Army and then William of Orange, both suppressing (fairly brutally) the Irish complainants. As most native Irish were Roman Catholic and most of the incoming settlers were Protestant, religion was added into this volatile mix. In the early part of the 20th Century, the main part of Ireland won a war for independance from the Union and formed the Republic of Ireland, but the 6 counties of Northern Ireland remained 'British' due to the majority Nationalist/Protestant population there. The Republican/Catholic population of those 6 counties continued to campaign for a united Ireland, which escalated into The Troubles of the 1970s and 1980s with the IRA taking direct action and the British Army deployed in strength to Northern Ireland to prevent the IRA doing so (there were also armed factions on the Nationalist side). The Good Friday Agreement brought (in theory) peace. However... as both sides are fond of celebrating their various historical victories, usually in the face of the loosing side, tensions are still high and violence occasionally ensues, especially around the banning or allowing of these celebratory marches and the routes they take and the authorities are stuck in the middle in a 'damned if you do...' situation. In this case, the authorities have said 'No, you can't go down that road and antagonise the Republican/Catholic residents, so please either replan your route or we'll not allow you to march at all', with the Nationalist/Protestants saying 'But we've always marched along there because we know it winds them up, so up yours!'
